This project is located south of the site of the University Hospital of Zurich, where it shares the resources and services. Already composed of several buildings, including the Schulthess Klink Zurich and the Universitaesrski in the west, this estate, overlooking Lake Zurich, inspires an open hospital design in campus mode. The hospital is designed, like an acropolis, on the principle of a belvedere over the landscape.
Not escaping perfect functionality, the design of hospital spaces has been a common work. Doctors, paediatricians and children participated to ensure that the project met their expectations.
This co-design sought to organize time and space "between things": between programs where life depends on others, between moments of isolation that the healing process makes necessary.
Thus, many free spaces between the controlled areas are provided for the comfort of young patients, their families and caregivers.
The entrance is designed as a large lobby overlooking the city. It is the starting point of a large gallery from where the programs follow one another, open on the landscape of the Alps.
Finally, all the rooms share an additional space (play area, temporary living room for families) so that the medicalized daily life is punctuated by recreational time.
